Hi Vicky, thanks so much for getting in touch! Have you read this post? https://talesofabackpacker.com/what-to-do-in-antigua-guatemala-the-ultimate-antigua-city-guide/ I really enjoyed Antigua, I spent about 3 months there too and loved it! There is a large ex-pat community, there is a lot to do in Antigua and in general it is very safe. Still be careful about walking around alone at night, some streets are very quiet and of course bad things could happen anywhere but I didn’t have any problems here, everyone I met was really friendly. You’re going to love it! A note about transport; I was recommended not to take the colourful Chicken Buses which locals use as there are some robberies; ask your accommodation about a tourist shuttle from the airport (assuming you’re arriving by air) which is more expensive but safer. Enjoy!

    Hello Claire,
My name is Vicky and I am about to take my first solo trip for 3 months to Antigua Guatemala.
I am a bit worry about security for a woman to travel solo.
    What do you recommend ?
