Solo Travel Tips

Solo travel is one of the biggest adventures you can have, and while it might seem scary at first, the confidence you’ll gain from taking the plunge and travelling alone is something that will stay with you forever.

My main mission as Tales of a Backpacker is to encourage more women to travel, and as someone who took their first solo trip more than 20 years ago, I have lots of advice to help you on your solo adventures!

I’ve brought together all my solo travel tips below, with a bunch of solo travel guides for different destinations.  I’ve also included lots of tips for staying in hostels – one of my favourite accommodation options for solo travellers, even if you stay in a private room!

Finally I have some tips for doing work exchanges, which can be a great option for solo travellers on a budget who are travelling for long periods like I did in South America.  Working a few hours a day in exchange for accommodation means you can save a ton of cash, and really get to know the destination and other volunteers.

If you have any questions about solo travel, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with me on social media @talesofabackpacker !
