Airbnb Discounts for Long Stays
If you are travelling for a while, many Airbnb hosts offer discounts on long stays that vary from week-long special offers to long stay discounts, so if you stay for a month or more you may get a special rate. Sometimes these discounts are applied automatically when you search for availability for a week or a month, other times you could ask for a discount (more info below).
Get Money Off Airbnb – Ask for a Discount!
If you think you can get a better deal on an Airbnb listing you can try asking for a discount. If you are travelling in low season, or there is a lot of availability, or the Airbnb property doesn’t have many bookings – or even a bad review or two – you can ask the Airbnb host for a discount.
Message the Airbnb owner before you book and explain your reasons for requesting a discount, and see what they say. They may choose to apply a special discount for the dates you are requesting, or they may tell you to take a hike! Then it’s up to you to decide whether to book at the normal rate or look for cheaper options elsewhere.
HOWEVER, don’t agree to discounts that apply if you pay the owner directly, off the Airbnb platform. If you don’t go through the official Airbnb platform you lose any rights and support that you have when booking through Airbnb.
Take a Chance on New Airbnb Listings
Usually, new listings on Airbnb that don’t have any reviews are advertised at a lower than average rate to tempt people to book. Usually, as a solo female traveller I don’t tend to book anywhere without reviews, but use your common sense and decide for yourself whether it is worth the risk to score a discount on your Airbnb booking.

If I may add a comment from the perspective of an Airbnb host, the best circumstances to get an additional discount on what the host is advertising their property for is with mid-week multi-night bookings. For most hosts, mid-week is quieter than weekends, and for bookings of more than one night, the costs of servicing the place are less. So hosts are more inclined to give additional discounts then. And the closer you are to a booking date, the more chances you may be able to swing an additional discount. I rarely grant additional discounts because I’ve priced our place as low as I can go to get volume, but if somebody messages me at a weekend and says they want to book Tuesday to Thursday the following week, and can they have an extra discount, if those nights have not already been booked I would certainly say yes.
