Backpacking Ecuador

I had a mixed experience in Ecuador.  I loved the wild nature of the Galapagos Islands but had a bad experience in Baños when my passport and laptop were stolen from a hostel locker.  It’s hard for me to see Ecuador in a positive light, and certainly, recent news reports suggest that this beautiful country is plagued by gangs.  How much this affects tourists I’m not sure, so do some careful research before deciding to visit Ecuador.

If you decide to go, you can have an incredible experience exploring the varying landscapes of this relatively small South American country, from volcanoes to rainforest, rural towns and bustling cities, to the breathtaking Galapagos.
